SGUSTFU* mention

SGU premiered last night, and I would have completely not known if I hadn't gone onto LJ (here) and realized it was broadcasting.

Lucky me. I recorded it for my husband and watched the first 15 minutes or so before (OMG!) turning the television off.  About the neatest thing about it during that 15 minutes was the hurtling cast members/characters smashing onto the floor of an unknown location.  At one point the Guy sat down with me and commented during a scene with Jack O'Neill in it--I don't even know if the Guy realized who that was--or maybe the one up on the Hammond, that he wished they'd stop with the bumpy-camera movement.

Who directed this? Cooper? He seems to love "cutting edge" camera work.

Anyway, I have no idea if I like or dislike this show, but really, I'm pretty much out of this franchise. I think. Unless they give me some really really good fodder for mocking, and you know they will. I'm just not sure SGUSTFU is worth it.

::nods:: To me, any show that equates rape with entertainment gets a big fat NOT ON YOUR LIFE in regards to watching. And really, we already know that these writers do NOT do "edgy" or "well written" stories very...well, WELL. That to them, having a running theme of morally ambiguous sex in other people's bodies, is "edgy" is just proof that they haven't a CLUE as to what makes really GOOD TV. That's not to say they won't get the ratings cause there are a LOT of people out there that think being a TV show means they don't have to be held accountable for their content and that rape really IS entertaining and half naked women, lesbians and lots of gratuitous sex are of course going to draw that 18-35 male demographic in like flies to honey. That still doesn't mean the show is GOOD.

The geeky kid was in something else and I like the actor but not enough to watch. RDA and Michael Shanks, according to one of the actors may make regular guest appearances and as much as I LOVELOVELOVE RDA, not even he could get me to watch this.

Yeah, that's the thing right? I mean, its one thing if the writing is REALLY good and you can get away with some things you can't when the writing isn't up to par but the Stargate writers have NEVER EVER EVER reached the heights other shows hit and I don't think this is going to be any different.
