Target: $25; Vons: $55
Feb. 18th, 2009 04:07 pmThe Guy likes to take supplements for his joints, particularly Osteo Bi-Flex brand glucosamine chondroitin.
I went to Target first to pick up some stuff like shampoo, a dog comb (misplaced Goldy's other comb, darn it) and Benedryl, again for Goldy. I stopped by the supplement aisle to see what Target was charging for a bottle of Osteo Bi-Flex. For the 120 pill bottle, they priced it at $25.34. Okay, not too bad, but I had a $5 coupon from Vons for the same brand burning a hole in my purse.
Off I went to my next stop, the Vons kitty-cornered from Target. The pricing on the shelf said something like $48 for two bottles (of the same stuff, same bottle, etc). So I picked up two bottles. At check-out, they rang up to $110! For TWO bottles of this stuff! I returned one right away, but didn't realize how much they were individually, and ended up standing for 20 minutes at the service counter waiting to return the other bottle.
Cripes. $55 for ONE bottle of this stuff. I told the woman behind the service counter it was $25 at Target. Sheesh. I'm not getting any more OTC medical supplies from Vons after this. Even with coupons.
I guess Vons has to raise its prices on some products, or they lose lots of money. They've had a lot of sales recently.

Date: 2009-02-20 03:52 pm (UTC)I worked as a professional/indistrial housekeeper for over a decade and did some serious damage to some joints, both through repetitive motion and from impact injuries. Like you, I was feeling (and moving) like an old person while still in my 20's. Here it is 20 years later, and while I don't expect the damage to be undone life has become much more livable with Osteo Bi-Flex.

Date: 2009-02-20 06:19 pm (UTC)I ended up buying the Target store brand for the same price, but with 80 extra pills in it. Hubby said that it was lacking a certain ingredient but he wasn't upset about it-he can add that through another pill.
