The Devil Came Down to Georgia

The Devil Came to Georgia was a popular song when I was a kid - I'm not sure when it came out, exactly, maybe the early eighties. I remember it because A) it was a catchy song with two cool instrumentals in it, and B) had a good narrative story in it and C) it was about the ONLY current song I remember my father, the opera stick-in-the-mud, ever singing along to when it came onto the radio!

I just discovered, many years late, of course, that the song had a sequel called The Devil Comes Back to Georgia, wherein after ten years, with Johnny's win on the fiddle just gnawing away at him, comes back to challenge him again.

I can't find the sequel song on iTunes, of course. Does anyone remember hearing it?

I didn't even know that was the actual title of the first one. I always thought it was The Devil Went Down to Georgia. Huh. Learn something new every day!

I remember the original as "The Devil Went Down to Georgia," if it's the one where the Devil bets a fiddle of gold against Johnny's soul on who the best fiddler is.

I did not know there was a sequel! I hope Johnny squared old son's butt away.

I can't get to youtube from work

But google.com found this link:

And it seems to be labeled "The Devil Went Back To Georgia"

I'm still looking for the album the Charlie Daniels/Travis Tritt/Johnny Cash collaboration mentioned in Wikipedia might have appeared on.

"Heroes"

Was the album I saw mentioned as containing "The Devil Came Back To Georgia"

Amazon will sell you the mp3 for $9.99. o.0

Google "devil came back to georgia mp3" and see what pops. Almost all of that is blocked from my employer's LAN. I'm sure, given enough time, I could rationalize mp3 searches as work related. :)

Not really the same but...well, I thought it was funny - maybe because I like Stephen Colbert and Paul Dinello being complete dorks!
