The Devil Came Down to Georgia
Jun. 5th, 2008 12:43 pm The Devil Came to Georgia was a popular song when I was a kid - I'm not sure when it came out, exactly, maybe the early eighties. I remember it because A) it was a catchy song with two cool instrumentals in it, and B) had a good narrative story in it and C) it was about the ONLY current song I remember my father, the opera stick-in-the-mud, ever singing along to when it came onto the radio!
I just discovered, many years late, of course, that the song had a sequel called The Devil Comes Back to Georgia, wherein after ten years, with Johnny's win on the fiddle just gnawing away at him, comes back to challenge him again.
I can't find the sequel song on iTunes, of course. Does anyone remember hearing it?

And it seems to be labeled "The Devil Went Back To Georgia"
I'm still looking for the album the Charlie Daniels/Travis Tritt/Johnny Cash collaboration mentioned in Wikipedia might have appeared on.
