I'm a spoiler-aholic and -

I'm a spoiler-aholic, and I admit it. I love spoilers. Usually, they don't bother me (and indeed, they still don't). But I am discovering that the more I stay away from website dedicated to the shows I like, like Heroes, or Dr Who, or whatever, I find that I'm enjoying the episodes themselves a lot more. The Guy is an admitted spoilerphobe. He hates them; and when I know something he doesn't, more than not, I spill the beans and he gets ticked off at me.

Without meaning to, for instance, I blurted out who Jack Harkness on Torchwood/Dr Who *really* is and the Guy stared at me wide-eyed and flabberghasted. *

So, I'm not announcing that from now on I am avoiding spoilers like a plague. No way, I enjoy them way too much. But I don't think I'm going to seek them out actively like I used to for Stargate and Heroes, etc. They aren't killing my fun, but they are cramping the fun. I guess I'm in the spoiler-no-mans-land.

* Honestly, though? Big anticlimax. Like, that was the big mystery, "There is Another"? That was the big secret? Big whup, little pay-off.

Eh? Another what?

I'm not even watching the show(s), but now I want to know! :D

Well, the actual line was: "You are not alone", said to Dr Who by the Face of Bo.

I used that other line as a play on Star Wars. :::grins:::

Ah. Sorry, you're neither tiny nor green enough for me to have gotten that. *g*

LOL! I adore spoilers. I totally go look for them every time of think of it. :P But you're right, it can kind of cramp the fun of the show sometimes. For me, it happens more when I read people's reactions to an episode I haven't seen yet. If it's just regular spoilers, like on gateworld or something, then it's not bad - cept for the Carter crap - but reading people's reviews, especially if they're not glowing reviews, can sometimes put a damper on my excitement to see an episode. Course - that doesn't actually stop me from hunting down said reviews. :P When I'm sitting here waiting impatiently for an episode to go up for downloading I'll take what I can get. ;)

I don't believe Jack is that guy. I think it was tongue in cheek, and I don't/won't believe it. :)

Jack is immortal. He can't die (or, he does, but only after he tells the Doctor his Big Secret).

er - spoiler - don't read if you don't want to know 0--

OK. I'm hooked. Say what? Who is Jack Harkness in this melange, other than the obvious?

Hey, I don't get BBC America, or whatever - I'm stuck.

Well, unless you know about the Face of Bo in Dr Who, I'm not sure you'll get the reference...but the Face of Bo showed up in the first season, near the beginning (Rose and the 9th Doctor). Bo is a being of incredible age (billions and billions of years old). He's a giant face floating in a big tank.

The Face of Bo is Capt Jack of Torchwood, formerly of Dr Who. Did this help?

Sorry to take so long - I've been off line for the week.

Thank you for the info - it does explain a bit - although perhaps he could have mentioned it sooner?

But again, I appreciate knowing.

I've been the moderator of a multitude of lists and forums where the discussion of spoilers was a given. I had to develop a thick skin towards them, because I had to police them to protect those who didn't want to know.

I'm relatively passive about them. I don't mind reading them, but I don't go out of my way to find them. I know some who pay to get access to spoiler sides to know about guest characters and get a peek at the scripts, but I don't really care about that sort of thing. But getting the "spoilers" TPTB put out anyway, such as who's going to gueststar, basic stuff about plots, etc. doesn't bother me at all.
