I woke up earlier than the kids!

Mermaid got her electric guitar (a Target special) and the first season of The Gilmore Girls. Tall Boy got his Halo games (two new ones) and the Guy surprised me by gifting me with the latest Canon camera in their prosumer line!  The Guy meanwhile, got two Bluray seasons of the original Star Trek series--it's a really cool package, because not only do you get the OS Trouble with Tribbles, for example, you ALSO get the animated tribble episode AND the DS9 episode where that crew went back in time and were woven into the original footage. It was a brilliant episode. So, tons of awesome extras for an old Trekkie like me, and the Guy.

Tall Boy's friend from next door has been over here ALL morning (with breaks when his mom calls him home) playing with Tall Boy on the Xbox.

I stuck the turkey breast in the littlest slow cooker I've got, with a little bit of apple juice, and soon I'll get started on peeling the potatoes for the mashed taters (yum).

The lasagna that I made last night was a HUGE hit. Tall Boy decided that school food (which he doesn't like much) is different from the food I make at home, and so he tried it, and filled up fast. I think the key was all the garlic I used. I used two Prego bottles that had garlic listed as a major flavorant, plus I used garlic in the meat I browned.  So it goes on my recipe rotation. Next time I'll double it and make an extra one. Mermaid ate half of the left over piece this morning (there was only one left over slice). It really was yummy.
I know it seems like I've turned into a Foodie (ohnoez!) but I *must* tell about the slow-cooker turkey breast I made. It came out *great*. Nice and moist, not tough at all, like turkey breasts always turn out when I cook them in the oven.

In this case, I plunked it down in my smallest slow-cooker, and added about a quarter of a cup of apple juice. Turned it on high for 4 hours, and then low for a few more, and then let it rest for a about twenty minutes and wow! Yum!

With homemade mashed potatoes and cranberry jelly, omg, perfect for tonight.

I love those days when the food comes out just right and every one loves it.
