Sorting through a previous life...

I spent some time today going through some old (from the eighties, seventies, etc) photographs and sorting them out so I could put them into this new huge (2000 photos!) holder that I bought today. My photos are stored willy-nilly all over the place, and I'd forgotten about a lot of them, and where they were put!
But the trip back through time -- my memories felt about as yellowish and discolored as many of the photographs themselves have turned. Old high school buddies during my junior/senior years, and then after college started...the college "friends" I made (it's a good thing I labelled one of the envelopes with a list of who was who in which photo, otherwise, I'd never remember who the hell they were!)...random family weddings and graduation parties...childhood pictures from that awkward junior high age...the huge eighties glasses....and there are entire sections of my life that aren't there. Or here. Those might be in my mother's house or...nah...she'd have cleared those out ages ago.
Now I know why that TV Show called "Life on Mars" is called Life On Mars! It's seriously like someone else lived that life in some weird AU universe, and I'm a newish person who happened to get those foggy memories. Is it a good thing I also kept journal-diaries during my growing up years from age 12 to college? I haven't quite figured that one out yet.
One good thing - I was able to collect my baby and childhood photos in one package, all the pictures of my childhood dogs in another package (these squarish plastic envelopes that fit right into the CropperHopper photo case)...and nicely labelled as such. And my daughter's newborn photos. But not my sons. I still don't know where those are.
The funny part? I had a Disc Camera way back in the eighties - anyone remember those things? And now of course, no one develops those odd negative discs anymore. And there are these strips of very narrow negatives (126mm?) that I doubt I could get reprinted at all these days.
