Cool command feature on Word

For those of you who like to lift fanfic off the web, those webpages that set the text within tables can be a major PITA, esp if, like me, you like to download your fic onto your PDA via eBooks, which does not take text with frames.

If you go onto the Table Menu, then click on "convert", two choices pop up: text to tables and tables to text. If you have a fic inset into a table, highlight the table, then click on the "tables to text" command. And there you have it, a fic that's free of that nasty table. AND, the text stays in its formatting, so you don't lose paragraphs, etc.

Oooh, thank you! This will be very helpful. I need to save this somehow so I won't forget it when I need it. :-)

how do you get to the table menu?

If you look up on your top task bar, there should be "Table" listed up there. If it's not there, then you need to add it to your task bar.

Ok, so where/how/what?

Call Word up on your screen. At the top of the Word screen is the row of menus to choose from when you're working on a document. Things like, FILE, EDIT, VIEW, INSERT, FORMAT, TOOLS, TABLE, HELP

If you don't have one of those up there, scoot your cursor arrow to the little downward pointing triangle at the end of the gray box holding the above listed menus, and click on it. It should say "more buttons" in a white box, if you hold your cursor over it.

Click on the triangle and there should be a list of buttons you can add to the task bar. If you don't have TABLES on the task bar, click on it and add it to the task/menu bar.

Once you have TABLE up there, you can convert Tables to Text.

I know what you mean, as I have tried this and ended up copying and pasting to notepad.

One question, where is this 'Table' menu?
