Here's that guy listed in the Book of World Records. Now, he makes the skeleton man look like a piker.

here's a story for you! Erm, the animal was dead at the time of the autopsy, so no animals were harmed in the "rip and stitch" as it was called in the article.

Jupiter and Saturn full of liquid helium. Well, DUH, how ELSE do you think they float up there in the sky? Hmm?
I am a  TOTAL Shakespeare geek from way way way back (well, not *that* far back so that I knew the man!) so when I saw this article about archeologists being alerted to, and then realizing what they'd found, was so awesome. Especially since the site was being cleared to build a .... (drum roll please) theater!

And here's an article all about it. It's going to be difficult to eliminate it from my diet, seeing as how it's in just about every food out there in the supermarket, except for unprocessed foods.

At 11 :45am (give or take) the house started shaking, and Mermaid, Little Guy, Mermaid's tutor, me, and the dog, raced outside once we realized that the shaking wasn't stopping like it usually does. It was loud, I could see the roof above me moving, but nothing fell off shelves and no one else in the neighborhood ran out of their house except our immediate neighbor.

Other than that scare, and the fact the telephones and cell phones were out for about 10-15 minutes, that was it.

Makes me glad my house sits on a concrete slab that rides the earth like a surfboard.

And now the Guy is watching Stargate: Continuum on Blu-ray on the PS3.  :::rolls eyes:::  I've no interest in watching it.

Truly, these are amazing machines. The two Mars rovers on the surface of Mars today, that is. They've lasted FAR beyond their planned demise - so much so, that newer missions with new rovers have been delayed, because of the Energizer Bunny qualities of these two determined and very well designed science vehicles.

It's a topic that makes me feel ewwwey all over (to say the least) and I'm glad I don't live in a culture that encourages and demands it, but here's an article about Female Gential Mutilation in Egypt, and the social pressures put on women to mutilate their daughters - or granddaughters, without permission of the parents - thinking that's what the men want. But is it?

Luckless Footless and Legless Man found ten miles away from his feet. No, he wasn't alive, he was in his forties...and yes, his feet had their socks still on them, if you want to get morbid. The Chicago paper hasn't said what the police think of why this happened to him...I just think old time Mob and Gangs. Or maybe he was a gambler who went too far into debt and his debtors wanted their pound of flesh. Yuck. I hope the paper says what his story is. I'm really curious.

Ah, and they've identified the poor guy...he appears to have been run over by a vehicle. Whether that was on purpose or not, is to be discovered.
3-D printers? Hmmm. That's a concept to wrap your head around...or perhaps print it out.

Excerpt:

Writing in today's issue of the Inderscience publication International Journal of Technology Marketing, US researchers discuss how this technology might eventually move into the mainstream allowing work environments to 3-D print equipment, whether that is plastic paperclips, teacups, or components that can be joined to make sophisticated devices, perhaps bolted together with printed nuts and bolts.
Remember way back when, Buck Rogers, Heinlein and all those other SciFiGuys predicted the wave of the future was going to be flying cars? (there was even a line in a movie/TV show I saw recently where a character asked, "where are the flying cars?") Well, here is a flying car...or is it a driving plane? You decide! Pretty cool stuff, I think.
