Book squee

Yeehaw! My mom and I went to the used bookstore today, and I managed to remember the writer's name of the Stargate movie tie-in novels. There were two of the McCay books on the shelf -- and YAY! In it, McCay has Jack and Sarah O'Neil back together, with their marriage patched up. That's where the *series* should have taken it, too. They were good together.

"I think it's a TV faux pas to think that stable (not the best tern here but go with me) relationships would bore the viewer."

Oh, I agree. Big mistake. I LOVE seeing an honest-to-goodness happy couple on screen. Look at Zoe/Wash on Firefly. Love that couple. Notice, though, that it's the female 2IC who's allowed the happy relationship while the male lead who, well, I don't know how to describe Mal.

It would have been very nice to have Jack married and have SG1 be friends. All of them. :)

I think that is why I am always so turned off by lead male/female romances. I always seem to bite when you have secondary pairings though.

In Firefly, I am not too big on the Mal/Inara thing. Not because the actors can't act. Just because I expect it all the time. Zoe/Wash are refreshing. I was a little put off by them at first, though, because I am not used to seeing that! But I love it.

My fave is Kaylee/Simon. Hey, it's cliche but I have my weaknesses, what can I say?

I don't know. I don't know why Tv and movies can't have people just being friends. It happens in real life. I want to see that.
