The spouse bought the first season of Millenium (you know, Chris Carter's second series that ran at the same time as X-Files) and I eventually got sucked into it.

Gawd. Holy shit, this series is completely relentless in its gloom and doom and hunt for wacked serial killers who are starting out, who have experience, who have nutjob mothers and miscued sexuality... (smacks face with palm) getting off on killing horses? WTF?

We had to stop the most recent episode, the one with the killer called The Woodsman. I walked out of the room as soon as it as was apparent that the Frank Black, the main character - when his wife was targeted next by the sicko Woodsman. I could have told you about ten minutes into it that is where the plot was going, and it was a cheap shot. Besides which, since this particular bizzarro serial killer camped where he buried his middle class female victims...it creeped me out majorly. Cuz. I'm going CAMPING with my kids in less than a week!

Gah!

However, I do remember one episode of this show during its first-run. There were a couple of devils, you see, assigned to make Hell on Earth...and one of them starts losing the faith, as it were, but finishes the job he was assigned. It was a "humorous" episode for Millenium. Very Black humor. No pun intended.

If you love the X-Files, you *might* like this series. It has a lot of the same earmarks as X-Files, like the music, the title sequence, the moodiness in Vancouver and lots of rainy days. I could go on. Unlike X-files, though, there's a lot less humor involved. Of course, the subject matter doesn't exactly engender *humor* and *laughter*.

Must go wash the brain now.
