Oh, jeez, I just realized it's been a while since I've posted!

I've had a cough/cold something since mid May that wasn't going away, and finally the Guy insisted I go see my NP (nurse practitioner) NOW, or he was going to go nuts. So I did. She told me that I had a mild temp (99.something F) while I was in her office, I didn't seem to have anything in my lungs, and that yes, it WAS nasal drip going down into my lungs that was keeping me up all night and making me sleep deprived for two or so weeks. What was the problem? Run away allergies.

Wha?

This is so not like my childhood alllergies in New England, where I always had a clogged sinus, my eyes were ALWAYS itchy, and so forth. Constant low-level allergies. No, not this time.

So she prescribed Albuterol for my lungs, told me to take MORE Flonase up the nose-up to 2 or 3 times a day!, ordered some hard-hitting bliztkrieg infection fighting medicine, AND a series of steriod pills taken over five days.  Oye. The Albuterol makes me feel odd, but it does seem to help. I still am coughing, however. I take the Albuterol every four hours.

On other fronts, today was Tall Boy's last day of Third Grade. Mermaid went into the grade school with our next door neighbor to volunteer in some of the classes, so it was quiet for the first and perhaps ONLY time this summer in this house. Mermaid's schooling is just about over. School is officlally over for her, but she has access to the online program until June 30th.

Mermaid goes in for a tonsillectomy/adnoidectomy this coming Tuesday. She has trouble breathing at night, so this should be a big help.
Tall Boy is being Tall Boy and growing up too much, too fast. I want him to stay my little adorable boy forever, but seeing as how Mermaid has grown, that ain't going to happen anytime soon.   Waaaah!

In the meantime, I've been spending a lot of time at Designer Digitals. See, what with the Guy buying me PSE 8 for my birthday, I finally feel comfortable with manipulating my photos on a program AND have gotten into digital scrapbooking big time. I've done a few pages already. The learning curve is steep, but I AM learning, and it's a lot of fun. I haven't even really looked at the new paper stuff I've acquired recently. I have no idea what to do with it all now. I guess I'll wait until I'm sure I'm still interesting in digital before I decide to sell the stuff off or what.

Other than that...I dunno. I think I'm going to be spending a lot of time at the beach this summer. At least, that's what the kids say they want to do this summer. We'll see. Last year they kept telling me the beach was *booooring* and that they didn't want to go again.  I'm all for it. Pack some lunches and drinks and snacks. Bring sand toys. Bring my camera... yeah.

Oooh, I've just been getting into digital scrapbooking also. I recently got a program called Memory Mixer, but I'd like to get PSE eventually also. Memory Mixer is okay, but it's not easy to figure everything out. I really dislike all of their premade pages, too. I am not a fan of the busy pages with so much background stuff going on that you can barely notice the pictures.

Anyway, I'll be interested to hear about whatever you're doing with this--and please share any info you discover. I haven't had much like finding any active groups or forums. Thanks for the link to Designer Digitals. I hadn't been able to find anything like that--and I've been searching.

I hope you feel better re: the allergies. I have chronic allergies like that, too. They mostly went away for many years--just bugged me intermittently. Now it's all the time--especially at night. I've never heard of Albuterol. Is that a short-term thing to clear things up or a long-term thing?

Albuterol is usually given for asthma or difficulty breathing. I'm not sure the exact reason for it here, but mine is an inhaler I have to take every 4 hours if I have asthma problems.

Oh yea, the doc explained what it was for, and I've taken it before this, too. Apparently, she thinks that the cold I had in my lungs "activated" or triggered a longer running inflammation in my lungs due to allergies and such. She said right now is major Tree pollen time here in LA. It fits.

My breathing has been getting gradually better, although I still feel like there's something in one of my bronchial tubes now and then. Yesterday I was still coughing up a storm. Between me and the dog, we're driving the family crazy with coughing!

Aiz, check out the community at Designer Digitals, and the Ideas section (which is really a gallery of pages). I've already got some up. Most folks there use PSE or PS, although there's a Tip section that also includes a few tips for some of the other programs. Check out the blog there, too. They have videos.

There's another site I've found with AWESOME tips on how to do certain things called Scrappers Guide. I go there once a week for their weekly tips.

Thanks. I've been checking out both sites. There's also a gallery at the Memory Mixer site that I never thought to look for.

I don't know that I'm looking for ideas exactly, though. What I'd really like is basic instructions on how to do things that I was used to doing with other programs.
