Changes---so far!
Apr. 5th, 2010 08:39 pmI'm up to Chapter Nine, now, and wow, Jim Butcher does NOT pull punches with the start of this book! No pussy-footing around from the first line of the book onward! (no, I didn't preread the chapter Butcher had up on his website)
So, what's with this hate-on going with Harry, and just about everyone else he knows calling Susan a bitch for not telling Harry she'd had his child? Okay, I know it's *not cool* to not mention something big like that to your lover, but...c'mon folks. She's a bitch for trying to protect her daughter? And knowing Harry's predilections for danger and other horrible adventures, to ME her reasons didn't sound all that unreasonable.
And yes, I did read ahead to find out what happened. I can now relax and read for pleasure instead of having the tension cranked up too high for my personal comfort; but believe me, there's a lot between the ending and the beginning that isn't explained at the ending, which makes me happy. I dislike books that give away the whole ending-enchilada in one final chapter. Where's the fun in that?
More as I continue reading. Butcher rocks.
