I thankfully do NOT have to report in for Jury Duty tomorrow...PHEW. The Guy told me he was taking Mermaid in with him to work tomorrow, which meant I would have Tall Boy with me all day. I think I'm going to have to ask my neighbor if she can take the kids if/when I do get called in later in the week. Crap. I really hope I'm not called in at the end of the week. That would suck majorly. My mother is coming in for a short visit starting next Tuesday, and Mermaid starts her schooling up again on Monday.

I'm not sure what to do if I end up having to report next week.

Oh, and I have to call in tonight, and Weds night. The guy I spoke to on the phone said that court activity was light this week (which is a reason I chose this week, in the theory) and even if I do get called in, the likelyhood of having to serve would be small. We'll see!

Around here you are in the pool to report for a month (chosen from the registered voter rolls--if it were the DMV I'd never be called since I don't drive).

If you are summoned but aren't chosen or your case is dismissed before you report (you call the night before), you are still in the pool till the month ends. With my summons this year, once I was past Thanksgiving I thought I would slip by without being called, especially since the last day of the month was the Monday after Thanksgiving. But they did issue the summons and had a trial that day--it was a burglary case, thankfully, just two days. But now my name is out of the pool for a full two years.

Good luck when you do have to call. My niece, who is a lawyer, said they hate trying cases at this time of year and often ask for continuances.
