twitter feeds...bwa?

I'm seeing these more often on my flist. And I scratch my head at them. What's the point of all these tiny little updates that don't say anything? And they're all time-stamped, too.

Trying to parse them out. I guess it keeps the flist from getting flooded with miniposts?

I have and use Twitter, but even I don't see the point of reposting them all to LJ. I just use Twitter cause it stops me from spamming the flist every time I think of something I want to say.
