If there's anyone on my flist who is absolutely boggled and has NO idea what it is I'm studying, here's a great little story that a newstation did about Stenography and students and how recession proof this profession is.

Me, too. It takes a while to become proficient, too. I wish I'd known about it--I think it would have done me good...at least, benefited me more than going to college, at that point in my life. And I would have made a LOT more money for the investment of my time. There's nothing wrong with a trade-profession. I just wish someone had told my parents that.

Given that I worked full time all through college, this would have made it FAR easier.

Who knows? Maybe once I have my pension, I might give it a shot, though I don't know if my hands could take it now. It's something to consider.
