The oldest fossilized brain of all (an ancient fish) was found. It's rare to find fish that aren't pancake flat because of the pressure of tons of sand piling on top of them, but the specimen described in this article actually had a *mineralized brain!* Yes! And there's some cool 3-d scanned imagery you can watch on the page the article is on. It's pretty cool!

Date: 2009-03-03 08:51 am (UTC)... is it bad that I'd love it if somebody was writing that about my remains one day? :D I wonder what future anthropologists (perhaps from Mars!) will think of our strange embalmed corpses and everything. Weeeeeeird science!
