It ocurred to me while I was in the shower (isn't that how it works?) that maybe, just maybe, the colonial fleet had never left the gas giant, or Kobol, and aren't, in fact, anywhere near the real earth. What if Kobol, Caprica, and the Gas Giant where Starbuck initially vanished are all the same planet, only at different times during its history? What if they aren't actually travelling through space/time like you normally would...I guess I'm suggesting that perhaps none of the characters we're watching are actually there, but in a matrix style reality (only not the Matrix, obviously).

I think it would be a cheat if that were the case, but how else to explain Starbuck's resurrection and lack of memory of her own death on the planet, OR the immutable fact that she died ON that planet to begin with. She was rebooted...but how? Through what machinations? .

By the way, this isn't totally thought through - I'm processing...

First, the "final five" all existed 2000 years ago on "Earth" - which was apparently settled by Cylons (but significantly after the Colonial resettling myth of 3600 years ago (ignoring the different measurements in years.)

As I see it, a separate diaspora of Cylons left Kobol along with what became the 12 colonies.

I can't yet explain the common music of Cylon Earth with our human Earth (human likeness to Chimpanzee DNA is pretty conclusive that we evolved here) - I think this is part of the "All of this has happened before and it will happen again."

I do think this has addressed my question of advanced cylons existing 45 years ago in the colonies -- the "Earth" cylons seem to have meddled in the religious mythology of the colonies as well as the religious myth of the Cylons - if the final five are Original cylons who can reproduce (Cylon Tyrol impregnated human Callee and First generation Cylon Tigh seems to have impregnated Third Generation Caprica 6 - granted, other stuff has been going on, but a major reveal, that Cylon Tigh seems to have impregnated Cylon Caprica 6 seems to have been competely ignored.)

Actually, getting back to the point of your post (I got sidetracked, sorry) - apparently, some "Super Cylon" has the ability to create "perfect clones" of dead people - including personal memories AND with the ability to be that individual - my theory is this new group influenced both human and Colonial:cylon mythology -- influencing the colonial humans to create their own cylons and then influencing the cylons to rebel, evolve and adopt them (original cylons) as gods -- somehow allowing the original Cylons to infiltrate advanced humanabots into the human population of the colonies - bots who aged in a fashion familiar to humans.

If this group of super Cylons retrieved Starbuck's remains and her viper, and was able to reconstitute her and her viper in a manner similar to the way they created the "Five" - also repressing memories -

Their entire purpose has been to lead the colonials/cylons somewhere- presumably closer to Earth than to Caprica.
I'm still ruminating over the options.

The producers have really strolled boldly into the wilderness. What an upset!
