For me, it was a 1958 animated Japanese film called (in English) Magic Boy. I saw it when I was twelve years old, in 1976/77 or thereabouts. I think that perhaps this movie, even though I don't remember it well right now, has influenced me a great deal since then. (well, that and Kimba the White Lion and Speed Racer)

How about for you?

At the cinema? I can't be sure, but I think it was ET. Though that was in its second release and I'm pretty sure I'd seen it in 1982. All I remember is a student free day when I was 9 and my father giving me money to catch the train to the cinemas. The trip itself stands out more in my mind than the film because it was the first time I'd been given permission to go that far by myself.

It was Billy Jack. I went with my cousin. We thought we were big time not having any parents or older sibs with us. Got in trouble because we ate some Junior Mints someone had left behind. The box had not been opened so we figured it was ok. Our moms had fits when they found out. Told us we should have been afraid they were laced with acid. At the time we were all "we wish hahaha ", well in private anyway. Looking back as an adult I can't believe I was ever so stupid as to eat them in the first place. Yuck!

Huh. I remember the walk down to the Paramount Theater, with my little sister Karen Lee and my best friend Karen Ann...and the smell of the theater, and the fact that it cost us 75 cents each for admittance and 25 cents for popcorn with no butter, but I have no idea what the movie was.

It may have been a re-release of the original Disney The Parent Trap...but it may have also been Cinderella. (Disney movies were pretty much the only thing I was allowed to see alone at that age--I would have been nine, and my sister was eight.)

The first movie I saw multiple times in a row was the first Star Wars...in the same movie theater. My friend was working there and would let people in the back way. My first movie I didn't get into was Blazing Saddles...I wasn't quite 17, and it was rated R. I had to call my mother to come pick me up because my "friends" who were all 17, decided to go anyway.

When our theater added more screens, we used to buy tickets for one movie and then go into the theater for a different movie. That's how I saw Jaws. *g*

The one I remember most clearly was Head. At the time, it was being shown at the military base theaters as a Saturday afternoon kids' movie. (I don't think anyone had any idea how whacked out that movie would be. It starred The Monkees, after all.)

I honestly don't remember. It was quite common for parents to drop off a group of kids at the theater and for another parent to pick us all up later. I cannot remember at what age I was first allowed to do that, but it might have been around age 10 or so, because I had an older sister, so my parents let me go with her.

The first movie that it was a big deal for me to see that I remember was Live and Let Die. It may have been rated R, though I'm not sure. My mother refused to let me go, and she wasn't the type to change her mind just because all the other kids were going. Then my friend's father was taking her and all her siblings. This was a family that my family was very close to, and they offered to take me with them. For the first and perhaps the only time, my mom relented. hehe I think that's why it stands out in my mind. Also, I still love that song, even if I don't recall much about the movie.
