Laurence Fishburne!

Oh, man! How cool is THAT? They got Fishburne! And put me in a happy place! I *loved* him in Akeelah and the Bee, and the assorted movies I've also seen him in. He's got the necessary presence, the gravitas, to take the lead on CSI, and now, with Sarah also gone, I am more looking forward to it!

Now, if only the writers would do something about Catherine the Soap Queen of CSI. Enough of her, already, mkay? Start writing her like an adult woman with genuine grown-up problems and successes, plze.

ps. I checked IMDB's spelling of his name, seeing as how many variants of both of those names there are

Unfortunately Sara isn't quite as gone as originally thought *sigh* and Fishburn, while very cool, seems to be getting the Dexter CSI version from all accounts of what his role will be. I'm disappointed Grissom is leaving - especially with the most likely reason for his departure on the show - but if Sara actually IS gone gone GONE after this season and Nick is still on the show I might give it another shot because yes, Fishburn, very cool.

Sarah not entirely gone? Well...in all honesty, what irritated me *most* about her was the forced Romance with Grissom. I liked that the actress was irritated by that "development" also.

What does Dexter CSI mean?

She was irritated by it? All I've ever read is her glowing review of how great she thought the Grissom/Sara romance was. But yes, she's coming back for several episodes this season and my guess is she's the "reason" Grissom leaves the team. I figure they'll have them run off and get married, or worse yet, actually show it happening. ::shudder::

CSI's version of the show Dexter. Dexter is apparently a serial killer that works with the cops as a profiler or something OF serial killers but it's okay cause he only kills bad people. *snort* I don't watch the show but the description of Fishburn's character - basically a profiler that is so good at his job because the traits he sees in the criminals are ones he sees in himself kind of thing just screams Dexter to me. *shrug*

This is all news to me. What's the gossip on why Grissom is leaving? I assume he will be back long enough for a story about why he's going?

Thanks.

Oh he's in this season but is leaving at some point towards the end (not sure if he's in the full season or leaving a few episodes before the end). Sara is back for several episodes and from the episodes I've seen with Grissom chatting with someone on the phone and sounding all lovey dovey *gag* I'm assuming its just a long distance thing he's been doing with Sara and that they'll do the whole them leaving together thing. There's no real gossip on what the storyline will be for why Grissom is leaving but the most logical choice seems to be this whole Sara thing.

Well, that's annoying. That Grissom/Sara thing sucked all the energy out of the show, plus it was embarrassing...and kind of icky.

Thanks for the info.

*sigh* Yup, that it did. I stopped watching when they made that relationship canon. I only started watching again a few episodes after she left cause I thought that was IT, that she finally gone but then there was the episode with Grissom talking to someone much as someone would a lover so I'm assuming it was Sara, even though he never said her name. I wanted to gag. *sigh* The whole relationship squicked me right out. I don't like when shows have a female character pretty much STALK the male one with the male giving next to NO indication of returning those feelings and them BAM! oh look, they're together. *snort* They just were NOT a good match at ALL.

No problem. Sorry its not exactly good news.

Hmmm... Should be interesting. As much as I am a fan of the show, I frequently find myself missing episodes and out of the information loop. Life somehow intervenes at precisely the wrong moment.

Grissom and Sara: that kinda felt like jumping the shark, don't you think? The show's been on the air since fall 2000 and I suspect that either the producers or the network felt they had to do something drastic to keep viewership. Like shooting Brass one season.

Is Gary Dourdan still leaving next season? It was pretty obvious from the "cliffhanger" that his character will survive, but I heard that he, and the producers, want him off the show.

Lawrence Fishburne: Here's a blast from the past for ya: he played "Cowboy Curtis" on the "Pee-Wee's Playhouse" Saturday morning show (which I adored in all its' naughtiness). And Phil Hartman played "Captain Carl". And I think "Reba The Mail Lady" is on Law and Order", or something.

Lawrence Fishburne was also Bruce Willis' foil in the Shyamalan movie "Unbreakable". Outstanding film. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it.

Wasn't Samuel Jackson Bruce Willis' character's nemesis in Unbreakable?

And I had a feeling I wasn't getting Fishburne's name spelled correctly...darned names!

D'OH! Yes, You're right. It was Samuel Jackson who was in Unbreakable. Shame on me. I ordered that film for myself as a 40th birthday gift to myself because I love it so much. Still haven't watched it, and I'll be 45 next month. *cringes*

I don't think I've watched that one all the way through. I should find a cheap copy. I love Jackson, and I like Willis (but esp in the Die Hard movies). I loved them both in Die Hard 3!
