This was one hell of a show. Sure, Rose reluctantly took her second-best half-human doctor, and sure, the best of all of the companions (aside from Sarah Jane) got her mind and all of her progress taken away from her, but overall, it was an intense, happy viewing experience.

I liked how it was really Donna who was the lynchpin throughout the entire season. I liked how the one Dalek who could do something about his specie's aggressiveness managed to "fix" things by making conditions ripe for the Dalek's downfall. I liked how just about everyone had their moment in the story.

There was a lot to like. I liked how Rose got what she thought she wanted; and it was fun to hear how her mother had a baby boy (they didn't forget that line!) and Rose has a baby brother! I liked Martha and how she's changed into someone willing to do whatever it takes---and most of all, I got a real kick out of Donna and her fascination with Capt. Jack Harkness: "No, really, hug me!" And how she got Sarah Jane out of her clinch with Jack so she could have her clinch. Heh.

And did I say how much I adored Donna in this? The actress has some acting chops. I think she's the best companion so far--she leaves Martha and Rose in the dust. That made it all the worse when she went back to her before shallow-self. One can only hope that the close-ups on that big glittering ring foretell more stories with her. Hopefully the Doctor can figure out a way she can regain her memories. Hopefully her grandfather will stand up for her more, help her become the person he saw her become before.

This is going to be one of those rare episodes where if I'm going to find something *wrong* with it I'll have to watch it again so I can be nit-picky.

I'd love to know if Martha is going to join the Torchwood crew, because I think Gwen needs a counterpoint of another woman who's also got strong morals and ethics, but isn't afraid to do what she must without all the freaking whining beforehand. Oh yeah: and I liked how Ianto and Gwen were essentially out for the count, thanks to Tosh, but putting their faith in Jack. That was nice. And I liked how Sarah Jane's son (what's his name?) was in there, too.

Little Guy, who's 7 1/2 now, adores this show. He loves it. He keeps asking when we'll buy the DVDs for it. Luckily the seasons are short enough that it's easy to follow the arcs, and it's totally fun. Maybe for his birthday.

Ya know - I've never watched Dr. Who until this season and now realize (after watching about 2/3 of the 2nd half of this season) that I **must** Netflix the other "modern" seasons post-haste. I got to see the Steve Moffit at ComicCon and am more in love with him than I am with the Doctor and Captain Jack together. Also got to see the cast of Torchwood - even the lovely boy-kissing isn't *quite* enough to get me to watch, but John Barrowman is *beyond* adorable in person... and is far more flamboyant and charming and flirty than Captain Jack - go figure! I will miss Donna **tons**, but after LMAO at Steve for an hour, I will definitely be back when Dr. Who returns, despite the sad end for his lovely companion. As for the other gals - I really like Martha, Rose bugs, and Sarah Jane rules.
