Oh, man. Must be because being a Trekkie is passe these days or something, I have NO idea.  There are still tickets available for two days in January, and for a couple of weeks in February.  Here's the official website: Star Trek the Tour.

It looks *awesome*! Even more awesome than that Star Wars exhibit that was at the LA Science Center a few months ago that I took the kids to. That was pretty cool, I admit. But this is the size of TWO football fields!

So yes. Once a trekkie, always a goddamn trekkie. I wanna GO!

Scott and I went last Saturday - it was a lot of fun, but I'm glad we got half-price tickets.... it felt more worth it. Sorry I didn't mention it - I didn't actually know you were into Trek, oddly enough.

BTW - we did a sleepover at the Star Wars exhibit - quite the hoot!

How'd you get half-price tickets? Through work?

I wandered away from ST for a long time, disgusted (disappointed) with Voyager and Enterprise, plus, my interests changed...but I'll always have a soft-spot for my first SF fandom (grown-up fandom that is).

Did you stay all day there? I noticed that it's open from 10am to 8pm most days. I'm trying to figure out how to have my kids taken care of after school during the week so I can go by myself, if I have to.

And I found out my Guy knew about this when I told him about it - and I don't think he ever mentioned it to me! But he's been preoccupied lately, so he gets a pass.

Through Goldstar.com

I got a lot of discount tickets that way - they rock ;->

I don't know if they have any more for Star Trek, but it's worth checking!

We were there from before 1pm until after 4pm, but that included a snack break - and we didn't get to go on one of the rides because we didn't want to wait in line for an hour.

Hm. The opinions listed on that site you mentioned weren't exactly glowing. And they don't have any more days listed, so I missed out on the cheap tickets.

Maybe I'll just make it a weekend and do Vegas instead.

Yeah - we had fun, but we had $44 worth of fun - not $75 worth or whatever it would have been without the discount.

well heck

Not that I have any idea how close Long Beach is to Anaheim, but I'm actually going to California for a meeting in February and arriving early enough on Feb. 21 - 4 days late - to have gone to this.

Well heck just doesn't really describe it.

They might have it near your part of the country - it's on tour.

Thanks - but really, I don't deserve sympathy. I'm really wondering what the heck I'll do in California (Anaheim) in whatever free time I have -- it's a big meeting for my company, so I'll be grounded in Anaheim, but Disneyland really doesn't interest me. If they had more rollercoasters, maybe.

I've seen the Las Vegas Hilton exhibit and I've seen the Smithsonian exhibit (which were a lot cheaper) - so I'm only regretting the time trapped in my hotel room.
It would have been nice if it worked out, but I can't see me spending $75 to look at props and costumes -- been there, done that - without spending that kind of cash.

Although, moderately amusing story - my computer password at work is at core a Star Trek one -- and smack in the middle of Quark's cantina at the LV Hilton last year (i.e., surrounded by Trekkers) I had to tell a colleague my computer password over the cellphone so he could access the company network on my laptop. Pretty much the only place on the planet where someone would recognize the phrase. Talk about karma.

Heh. If you want roller coasters and thrill rides in a more conventional amusement park, try Knott's Berry Farm instead. It's also a hell of a lot cheaper than Disney, and *I* think it's a lot more fun.

Sorry to take so long - thanks for the suggestion (Knotts Berry Farm). I'll keep it in mind.
