Quite a week for SF/F it's been, oh yes, my preciousessss!

Enough silliness. Although, with the sight of the Doctor on Dr Who looking either tremendously like Dobby from Harry Potter, or a twisted little Gollum from the Ring Trilogy, I couldn't resist.

Okay, Heroes.

Peter's Amnesiac Journey, or, Boy, Interrupted. I'm already tired of this Irish Doxy and her Gang set-up. There's no why for why Peter is there, there's no reason he couldn't have just taken the box when he felt like it, and there's absolutely no other reason for the girl to be there than for Peter to fall in lust with her and ignore the box for HER box. Yes, it's derogatory talk about a female character, but I'm tired of Heroes not letting its female characters have much depth other than as love interests, death interests, or witches. I will be ticked if Irish Doxy turns out to have some henceforth unknown superpower of her own, with no indications at all. It will reek of the writers deciding that they need to make her interesting on her own. And I must be one of the few female fans of the show who really has had enough of Peter's new pecs and abs artfully shown at every opportunity. Woohoo. I'd rather have some substantial story, thankyouverymuch.

Hiro's story is, like the others, moving at a glacial pace, with nothing new to show for it. At this point, I'd rather Hiro's story focus more on Ando's side of the story, because the thought of Ando trapped in an office cubical is more interesting than the trope of the hapless superpowered sidekick (Hiro) helping his White Buddy get the Girl is just...so wrong on so many levels. It's anticlimactic, for one thing. It's uninspiring

It was a breath of fresh air to see Nikki and Micah and OMG, Nichelle Nichols! You just KNOW Nichol's character, in New Orleans, has some wicked cool power of her own, and frankly, Nichols is herself simply fabulous. I look forward to seeing more of her in the upcoming shows. It was sad to see DL's grave site there. I understand that you can see what happened to some of the characters between the seasons online in the graphic novels, but...that's CHEATING, folks! I really shouldn't have to go online to read short graphic novels to find out what's happened. It reeks of writers getting lazy, or packing too much into the show itself.

Not much new can be said for Mohinder and Matt and Molly (aw, they're even Alliterative, how adorable!). I'd much rather watch them than Claire's dreary tale of teenage angsty woe, stalker boyfriend with a Superman complex and mental stupification. Oh, Claire is still charming because, well, Hayden P her actress is very charming...but that doesn't save the character from oncoming inspidness. Mohinder and Matt's story is interesting, I want to see what's going on with them. I just wish we the audience could get a glimpse of what the heck is bothering Molly in her dreams. Some dream images, done well and creepily, would keep my interest going stronger than it is.

If I had to grade this episode? 2/5 stars. I'd give 2.5 stars, but honestly, the unappealing West's behavior and Claire's braindrain tipped it over the edge for me, as well as the weirdness of Kenzai being an English white guy. Not to mention the dragging story with no answers in it with Peter.

Thank you, YES. Thank you for writing *exactly* how I viewed this episode. God lord, if I have to sit through more of Peter and the chick and Claire and her her loser boyfriend anymore, I'm gonna just puke. Sheesh! And enough already with Hiro and wtf, they are going to have him chase around Kensai's girlfriend/soon to be wife because he's fallen in love with her? Good lord, I didn't know Heroes was going to turn into a damn soap opera.

*grump*

It has turned into a shippy soap opera, hasn't it? They had to maneuver the storylines so that they could cut edits together of Peter and Irish!Doxy smooching, along with Claire and her Super!Creep boyfriend! Er...I don't know quite what to make of it, other than Uncle and Niece are going to get satisfaction of a sort the shippers for those characters couldn't get on their own. Now I think of it, I think the filmmakers were making a point. Isn't Claire/Peter ship pretty gross anyhow?

But the added enticement of Hiro staying behind (whether by choice or not I wasn't clear - I thought he wasn't able to use his powers to get back to 2007). I really do want to see what's going on with Ando. Poor guy, stuck having no adventures while he gets tiny scrolls from Hiro telling him what a cool time he's having. :-(

Word!

I've always been iffier on Heroes than others - frankly, too many damned boring plots and not enough good and interesting ones.

You summarized just why Peter's plight story is bugging the crap out of me. The Irish woman is far too calm about all of it, and I really didn't want the Shippy Hammer O' Doom to pound down on this show, and yet it seemed to me Monday's ep should have opened with, "Likes sands through the hourglass, these are the days of our heroes' lives."

It's a sad state when I don't even like what they're doing with Hiro. I thought I could love him unconditionally, but I can't.

I bought the first season DVDs for my Guy for his birthday about a month ago, and it hasn't been cracked open.

I think, unless it picks up, I *want* to want to like this show. And it IS fun, if you ignore dangling plot threads, or plots dragged out in soap opera fashion, that is, incrementally. I thought the writers had ironed out their problems writing for a variety of different characters, but it isn't clicking yet this season.
