I had another visual migraine thing yesterday, near six o'clock of the PM. It started out sparkly, then kind of slid down from my main vision into my peripheral. Yes, I did ask the eye doc I went to see about it, but she wasn't much help - since it happens with both eyes, she suggested it has something to do with migraines. Woohoo.

I ended up going to bed at 9:30 last night, feeling sludgy. Even the Guy noticed how my speaking voice had slowed down to..where...I...was...talking....like...this, though molasses. It wasn't intentional. And I'm really tired and blorgy today, too. Don't have a real headache, but honestly wouldn't mind resting in bed for a half hour or so.

It's really weird, isn't it? Visual migraines don't "hurt" per se, but you still tend to feel like crap afterwards.

I often have speech problems as an after effect, which is bad enough at work, but even worse if I'm around my family, because my father's practically deaf as a post and he thinks I'm doing it on purpose. I also feel tired a lot, and even my thinking slows down like my speech sometimes. Just. Can't. Think.

Go to your regular doctor and mention it. There are some meds that can be taken at the onset of a migraine that can help (my doctor gave me free samples), while others are more of a maintenance medication to prevent them. In my case, my visual migraines are persistant enough I have to take something every day, but even that's not a guarantee it'll stop them.

I think the last one I had was a couple of weeks ago, or three. And I've had maybe five or six this year that I think I remember?

This time there was, not an ache, but what I call a "preheadache" - you know, the type that lingers in the background, just waiting to strike, but doesn't?

Yeah, I'll probably have to check it out with a doctor. I've been reading up on it on the internet.

Ouch. I've noticed speech issues surrounding migraines with people I know. I once knew a girl whose migraines I could predict because for a few hours before they started, she would just babble incessantly, like she couldn't stop.

Hope they find a cure for this damn stuff soon.
