Whale Falls

 Whale Falls - now, this is just plain ol' cool. I had no clue about this part of the whale circle-of-life, but it makes sense. What happens to the bodies of large whales? They don't just decompose on the bottom. They're a rich source of nutrients! And this makes me wonder how hard the past 200 years have been on the ocean bottom ecology. There's so much not known about the oceans. And to think it's still being screwed up beyond belief... well, okay, okay, that's not what this article is about, though. It does push back the known evolution of a certain type of whale, though.
