"Stargate: The Ark of Truth"
As SG-1 searches for an Ancient artifact which they hope can defeat the armies of the Ori, they learn more Ori ships are about to be sent through the supergate to launch a final assault on Earth. Daniel discovers that the artifact, the Ark of Truth, may be in the Ori home galaxy, and SG-1 embarks aboard the Odyssey to find it, and pre-empt the attack. The IOA has a plan of their own and SG-1 ends up in a distant galaxy fighting two powerful enemies.

Okay. There's the official synopsis.

What gets me is - whatever happened to using the STARGATES as transportation to and from places? I really couldn't give a fig about the rest of it at this point - but the show's main title, and the former "main prop character", was the STARGATE.  What is WRONG with these writers, that they keep missing using their most unique asset in their series? The one thing that sets it apart from all other SF series?

What a bunch of maroons.

Well, in this particular instance they can only get to the ORI galaxy via ship through the Supergate as it's waaaaaaay too far away for stargate travel. Very convenient.

The Stargate was NOT THIER INVENTION. Ergo, it isn't going to be something they're going to use when they can play with thier spaceships and stuff that they DID invent. Get it?

The movie will end up having NOTHING from the original movie or TV series that they didn't invent themselves.... except for that pesky Daniel that they just can't seem to get rid of no matter how hard they try.

Wanna take bets?

Thing is, once they GET to the Ori galaxy (where ever the hell THAT is) they aught to use the Stargate system THERE. But wait - was a stargate ever shown in the Ori galaxy? No? My, how convenient for them.

"Stargate? What's a stargate? Oh, the big round thing collecting dust? Well, you see, we wrote the script and the idea of flying all that distance was so exciting..."

SGC GATE: They certainly seem to show a lot of that tarty Vegas slot machine.

ATLANTIS GATE: [preen]

SGC GATE: Bet their new series will have something even tartier and shinier and prettier. And THEY'LL FORGET ALL ABOUT THE PREVIOUS MODEL.

ATLANTIS GATE: [pout]

Uhmm, but...

well, really, it seems to me that since the Ori seem to know the stargate system cold - including a multitude of addresses in a galaxy they didn't know existed (which still bothers me, frankly) that it is actually prudent to use a mode of transportation they (the Ori) don't control - like independent spaceships.

Did you see the synopsis for the second one? Looks like someone stumbled across a quantum mirror again...

"Stargate: Continuum"
While SG-1 attends the execution of Ba'al, the last of the goa'uld system lords, Teal'c and Vala inexplicably disappear into thin air. Carter, Daniel and Mitchell race back to a world where history has been changed: the Stargate program has been erased from the timeline. As they try to convince the authorities what's happened, a fleet of goa'uld motherships arrives in orbit, led by Ba'al, his queen, Katesh, (Vala) and his first prime, Teal'c. SG-1 must find the Stargate and set things right before the world is enslaved by the goa'uld.

Yeah - that synopsis was in the same news release from Creation Convention. I didn't mention it because like most of the other mirror episodes, it sounds like crap.

And it also sounds like same-old same-old for Daniel. How many times are they going to snake a woman he's close to/with/fucking, whatever?

Vala is completely a Sha're retread, and this second movie just confirms it.
