gategrrl: (Shells Leopard)
The past week or so I've been doing some scrapbooking--I know, it sounds twee, I guess, but since I haven't been writing at all for over a year now, this has turned out to be a wonderful creative outlet for me. I get a mag subscription, but, much as I love those beautifully decorated pages with one or two photos on them, lots of "white" space and a few lines of description or journaling on them...baby, that's not quite my style.

Generally I try to stuff as many pictures on my 8/5x11 pages (sometimes 12x12) as possible, and leave room for some basic notes. I don't necessarily go for simplicity. These days, I also decided to use my sticker stash, and other stuff, ON the pages, instead of hoarding them and never using them. What's the point of not using the stuff? I like having a lot of things to look at on a page.

Over two years I gathered a whopping huge collection of Club Scrap papers (and a few other brands) that for a long time I viewed as...sacrosanct or something. I mean, sure, it's gorgeous paper with interesting textures on them. But if they 're stuck in my closet on my shelf, what good are they doing? I could re-sell them, but I checked on eBay, and baby, the demand has gone way down while the economy is currently in the dumps. Club Scrap collectors just aren't buying the papers and stamps like they used to, and certainly not at the inflated prices that were on eBay before. (whoa, crazy syntax there!)

In the meantime, there's an interesting article on Unclutterer about trinkets (or unwanted collections) that family and friends foist on unsuspecting folks. You know--you made a comment about liking tree frogs along time ago when you saw it on an Animal Planet show and forever after (or for years, anyway) folks started giving them to you, maybe as a joke, but then out of habit later. It's an interesting read--especially the comments.
