Japanese woman found living in man's closet (in Japan)

I've seen this headline for a few days now, and finally, my curiousity got the better of me. There's no violence involved, no freaky killings, nothing like that; just that a man (living by himself, I presume) discovered that a homeless woman in her late 50's had been living in his closet and eating his food - which is how she was discovered. She didn't leave a mess, cleaned up after herself, and stayed out of his way.

I can't tell you how sad I find this story. There's no mention of retribution or court action, or if there is some sort of social system to help her out.
