Journeyman - spoilers, so beware!
Sep. 25th, 2007 09:01 amAnd those are my comments. I wanted to write them down before reading what anyone wrote about the show. What did you all think? Did you bother watching? Are you giving the show a chance for a few more weeks? Do you think being the show on right after Heroes is going to help it? Does it need Heroes to lead in?
Primate Sperm Speed!
Sep. 25th, 2007 06:52 pm Primate sperm speed - whose little swimmers get to the goal fastest wins! Amusing in how researchers are always so interested in what makes manliness (or maleness) male. Echos back to the scientist author who didn't investigate why bird penises are shaped the way they are (because of female bird evolution). Here's the article. I mean, it's interesting and all, but...I find it amusing at the same time. How are they measureing the speed? Having little petry dish races are they?

In a paper published online by the Journal of the Royal Society Interface, a team led by Michael Berns, an adjunct professor of bioengineering at UCSD and a professor of biomedical engineering at the Beckman Laser Institute at UC Irvine, and UCSD Ph.D. candidate Jaclyn Nascimento reported that sperm cells from the more promiscuous chimpanzee and rhesus macaque species swim much faster and with much greater force than those of humans and gorillas, species where individual females mate primarily with only one male during a reproductive cycle.
So, ladies. Should we set up little speed bumps on the way? ::snickers::
