Heroes! LJ-cut for discerning readers

* There's a mysterious Dude who is not Sylar out killing his or her old partners, who have done horrible things like kill lots of people (including Nathan and Peter's Dad...knew there had to be more to that than a mere suicide). And of course, that thread is left dangling in midair, unlike Hiro's father, who landed hard on the city street. I'm starting to think that building used to be the older generation's Batcave or Fortress of Solitude. The pay-off had better be good for this story thread, because hiding things like this constantly gets tiresome after a while. Sure, as a viewer, it's keeping me interested - or at least, wanting to know what the hell is going on - but the cumulative effect is going to be one of, "I'm beginning not to give a shite if I don't get some information SOON." Sometimes there's more terror in knowing YOU know who is closing in, rather than having the information parceled out in dribs and drabs.
* Hiro. Poor little Hiro, shocked out of his gourd that his hero turned out to be a thieving, selfish, conniving gaijiin. I almost expected the guy (not Hiro, the Englishman) to be a time traveller himself, since we now know that powers can be duplicated. Of course, it's not a big surprise that Hiro is going to take the diahonorable gaijiin's place and establish Kenzai as the true hero Hiro knows him to be. If Hiro's storyline is as predictable as that, jeez. I hope not. I think it would be better if the sword master's daughter turned out to be the one to get rid of the bandits. (and of course, this is very similiar in concept to Akira Kurasawa's Seven Samuri plot line) At least Hiro's powers work in the past. Why didn't he try to get himself home? And it's interesting that in OUR time, Hiro's been gone for four months. I'm not sure I remember correctly what the rules of time travel are as already established on this show, but I wonder how or where they're going to sew him back into the current timeline. And Hiro is 30? Did I hear that correctly? Oh, mentor Daddy-Sulu, will we never know what important information you were supposed to tell Hiro?
* Nathan...what was that mirror thing about? Is that what he really looks like now? Or was that what he *imagines* himself to look like? As far as I know, he doesn't have Claires wonderful recuperative abilities...or does he? Or was Peter able to spontaneously regenerate Nathan? And how is Nathan supporting himself in the meantime? That's a NYC apartment, folks. That's a BIG apartment for New York, and it ain't cheap.
* Looks like Claire's Mom is still a little whacked out from all of those Haitian Memory Treatments, which is too bad. I like the actress, and I like what the writers COULD do with her and the character. And HRG, well, he's having an even harder time adjusting than the kids, which isn't something I would have expected. They were telegraphing that incident with the santimonious little management prick.
* Okay, so how is Claire's new Guy acquiantance able to locate other Special people? What clued him into Claire? And yes, I thought it was cool that he can fly, just like Nathan, Claire's bio-daddy. And it's interesting to know that powers can repeat themselves. And wouldn't it have been hysterical if that head cheerleader was really Buffy? heh. Puts Buffy into a whole new context. I'd be surprised if no one had crossed over those two universes. It could work.
* Mohinder and HRG, still in communication, and now wanting to work to destroy the Company. Is that virus Mohinder was talking about in Cairo for real? Or a ruse to get the Company to approach him yet again? Oh, and Stargate fen, didn't that scene remind you of that scene in the Stargate Movie? (the original one) And in Eygpt, for heaven's sake! ROFL! Too funny. I guess they consider Mohinder to be their Daniel Jackson? Mmmm, don't think so.
* Molly, poor kid. Major nightmare city. I thought Matt reading her mind during her nightmare was kinda cool, but to ignore her warnings that the Evil Guy on the other end would crush him like an ant? I'd think Molly would terrified she'd be left all alone again. And what's this with Matt being divorced? What his kid? It's not even born yet.
* Next week we get to see what's happened with Niki, Micah and DL. That should be interesting. I wonder if Niki managed to integrate with her Badder half, and if that mystery is going to be addressed more completely than it was last season. It's still not clear if Jessica is a completely Other personality, or an aspect of her own that split off.
* And I almost forgot! The new brother-sister duo! Can't have enough sibling relationships on this show, eh? Both hot young things, aren't they? The sister sure ended up with the short end of the stick, power-wise, didn't she? And you *know* she's going to figure strongly in the Company storyline. Too bad they don't know Daddy Suresh is long dead, now. Something about her power reminds me of a David Cronenberg movie, Scanners. Except the heads didn't essplode, you know? But their eyes looked scary dialated or covered with burst blood vessels, it was hard to tell in that light.
We have the first season of the show, but strangely enough, I've no desire to rewatch it just yet. Maybe I will, to see the extras. My only hope is the ending of THIS season isn't lame like the first season's ending turned out.
