breathes heavily in panic for a moment and then...

OMG. Yesterday, the Guy wanted to double-check the numbers on a fantasy loan (ex, how much would the monthly payment be for a $600K house, right next door? - our neighbors are rumored to be selling in June). And I could not turn my PDA on. It was the Black Screen of Death. I hooked the power line back up - I had taken it with me on a recent trip - and sure nuff, the PDA came back on, but not under it's own power, I realized that when, after having downloaded its back-up of the entire system, it blanked out again after I popped it off its little power stand.

Luckily for me, I have a back-up battery I bought a while back that IS'NT dead. *However*, I'm not sure if it's the original battery, or the secondary battery. Either way, THIS baby still holds a charge. The Guy said it was a good thing it wasn't the OSystem. Yeah. I guess. But what a PITA, DLing every single program I had backed up on the computer, finding their keys so they'd be valid, and making sure they worked. And now I have these "ghost" icons for programs I don't have on it anymore, which is annoying.

And thank heavens (most of all) that I still have my address book, and my calender appointments still there. All else is secondary, really. Oh, and my fics and eBooks. That's pretty important too, considering the ONLY place in the world my NaNo novel from this year is on my PDA! Eeps! At least that is all on an SD chip. I must back up the entire system on the desktop, I think.
Thanks to [personal profile] whisper99 for posting that picture of Michael Shanks - but wow, where'd all those deep forehead wrinkles go that were there in season 7?!
