On-line Photo developing

It's just no use, is it? I went to a couple of big on-line photo printers for some digital files I have, and, between Wal-mart and Snapfish, the cost turned out to be exactly the same, or a difference of only a few dollars! Even with a first-time-user's free prints offer -- it's just incredible. It might just be cheaper in the long run to print my own, since with shipping I think the cost of the pictures (simple 4x6 and a smattering of wallet-sized ones) turn out about the same.
There really IS no such thing as low-cost printing, no matter what the photo printing companies say.
