Fascinating Fandom story

merylemon found this ( http://www.journalfen.net/users/charlottelennox/784.html ) fascinating journalistic story about a specific fan in Harry Potter fandom. I've no idea if this person is still active in it, but from what someone says in a comment after section 8 of the story, she still is.

I highly recc this. It's thorough, it's interesting, it's an eye-opener about sociopathic fannish behavior, and how people react and are played very adroitly by someone like this person.

I'm actually on a blacklist for an LJ comm. They won't let me join because apparently I offended the owner in OS ages ago. I'm so depressed over it. Not. I'd never even heard of the comm until someone pointed out my name was posted in the only public post, about how I'm one of these mean and awful people who tormented the wackjob owner on OS.

I am not involved in the HP fandom in any way, but this is so totally intriguing I can't stop reading it! I'm on Chapter 4 and may have to stay up until I finish this. The things some people do!

Insane is a polite way to put it. Can you imagine anyone truly putting that much effort in trying to be a big fish in a little pond like that? Okay, okay, I know you can, and we know a couple of people online who do...but the amount of effort this wackadoo broad put into it is simply amazing. The phrase "get a real life" springs to mind. She's an expert at human behavior, that's for sure.

I wonder what BetaCandy would say about this nutjob.

I got far enough to realize that little chippy who went psycho everywhere about OS people (banning them from her archive and whatnot) was pretty sane by comparison. ;)

The real irony? I don't read/write the subgenre of fic the comm is for, so... yeah, whatever. I'm all chastised. ;)
