SPN

I *finally* watched "Provenance" two nights ago when I couldn't get to sleep. Oh what a night - two episodes of "Medium", half of a "Crossing Jordan" and SPN's "Provenance" (that's the one with the creepy family painting in it and the people getting their necks slashed open) and I finally got to sleep at four in the morning!

So - the episode! Wasn't nearly as scary as I thought it would be, really. I didn't like the brunette barbiedoll they had playing the deep cleavaged daughter of the auction-house dealer. I was kinda hoping the dealer and her *would* get their throats slashed, but it was not meant to be. Dean was also not quite the same character I thought he was (I'd seen an episode that took place in an abandoned asylum - much better ep than this one). He's such a guy-ho! I didn't know that! And that 70's wacka-wacka-hotel room? Do they check into weird rooms like that every episode? And have they ever checked into a haunted/demon infested hotel room without knowing it?

I thought the mystery was kinda shallow. If I hadn't known who the killer was, would I have guessed? I have no idea. But I would have appreciated more lore, like in Buffy, where there'd be a *reason* for the haunting human-demon thingy to BE there, other than to cause havok-and-death-by-nasty-means (TM).

I like the look of this show - the producers certainly love the bleached blue-black end of the color spectrum a whole lot. It fits.

Aw, really? This is about as much depth as it gets, honest? That is disappointing. I hope the casting for the women on the show isn't as bad as it was for this episode. I truly completely and totally found the actress in this episode to be perhaps one step short of having plastic for skin. She really did look that fake. And looking at her, I wondered how much of her personal assets were real as well. :=( They need better casting.

I'm generally not a fan of pretty-boy watching ONLY. I really like the stories to have good pacing, some humor, few if any obvious plot-holes, and as little teenage angst-emoting as possible. Granted, I think I know who the target audience is for SPN, so I'd allow for that focus, but...good stories and characterization are good for ALL types of shows.

I started getting into Roswell (remember *that* one?) just as the focus changed = twice!- from SFish to 90210 angsty all the time, and ended up dropping it.
