I hate you, Jim Butcher, for leaving the story like that at the end! But I won't kill you, because I need to know what happens NEXT!

Will it mean that Harry is now *not* the Winter Knight? Does death cancel that obligation? I can't see Butcher allowing Dresden to be Mab's little slave boy for the next five books, not with that kind of insurmountable power--unless it's to Dresden's advantage when the *real* Big Bads come into play (the Outsiders, is what my money is on).

Is Thomas going to turn Molly?

BUTTERS!

And what's the deal with Mouse? Mouse won Harry? That was enough to baffle Lea, the fairy godmother. What exactly IS an Ice Demon, and why would it take the form of a Foo Dog? Did Mouse have a bet going on with his littermates? Exactly how far does his power go, and why not have him "talk" more in later books? He's clearly a player all on his own.

There's something about Mister, the cat, too. I'm starting to wonder if Mister is Just a Cat, or is he something else, like a mole?

Okay, yes, I have decided that Butcher is NOT going to detach Dresden from his Winter Knight position. He's going to need to huge amount of power Mab has to fight a common enemy. I thought the ogre King was interesting--a sort of Herne the Hunter character, only not exactly.

And oooooo, what's going on with Karrin, huh? I guess Dresden doesn't think that she's in any of the danger he was saying anyone else he knew would be in, if they were in a personal relationship with him. It made it impossible for him and Susan (in addition to that vampire thing poor Susan had going) to get together.

And Martin! Double-triple crosser! Talk about long-range plans. He was a bastadge, but his plan worked---it was a stretch to even imagine that Susan and her child could have possibly have worked into his plan that well--after all, Susan had Maggie only 8 years before; I guess he took an opportunity and ran with it.  The Red King sure was a lot more cognizant than everyone (or at least I) was led to believe than earlier in the book. Who put the idea in his head, or where did it come from, to DO that Bloodline magic in the first place?

With McCoy being his grandfather, I wonder how that is going to make Harry feel. I mean, the man uses magic in a way not normally sanctioned, and he seems to use it to kill without regrets. How is McCoy not going rogue? It would seem he could conceivably kill the Merlin anytime he wants. This is a huge dangling thread. Who was Margaret's MOTHER? Where is SHE now? Is it *possible* that Lea is her mother?

Poor Susan. Although, Martin could have been the one to be turned into a full Red Vampire, and been sacrificed on the alter instead. It still would have meant someone had to die (probably Susan again) but maybe not.

I wonder who that woman's voice was at the very end. I hope it means we finally get to meet Margaret Dresden face-to-face at last!

And that's it.
