Okay, so the Little Engine That Could didn't say that. Luckily for me I had my PDA and could move the fic onto that while Mermaid commandeered my computer to play Totally Spies games on the official website for that show.
I kinda like Totally Spies. It's cute, it has three smart teenage girls as the action heros who work together to solve problems and save the world. It does emphasize a lot of boy-drooling, though, and materialism...although I guess on those scores, it's about on the same level as all those other cartoons that sell their own action figures during the commercials.
There are some other completely stoopid cartoons out there aimed at girls. W.I.T.C.H.E.S. is one. And Wix is another. Mermaid has some cartridges for her Juice Box with that cartoon on it. Awful, awful. Talk about airheady girls. Well...Totally Spies has its characters act like airheady Beverly Hills teens, too. There are simply NOT that many good "role models" for girls nowadays, are there?!
Sam Carter of SG-1 is out: at least her later incarnation of the past four seasons. Yeah, Mermaid. Get a high level job, then lust after your boss, and let his attentions to you rule your world.
Maybe I'll introduce her to kick-butt characters like the ones on The Avengers. (with the exception of Tara King...blech, talk about airheady)
Any suggestions for good shows/books with strong female characters a tween could get into? Aside from Nancy Drew.
