It was pretty clear that the son learned violence from his father--the way the son reacted to being tossed around--my god, David Morse really put a frightening physicality into it. The way it was played, you knew that the father perhaps wasn't *surprised* by the way his son developed, but yeah, he enabled him the entire way by buying off the women his son had previously attacked.
Not a nice family at all. I do wonder what the missing eyes were about, though. I think the eyes were missing in order to make the crimes distinctive. And the son also considered shooting himself-but you knew he never would. He enjoyed getting back at the women he attacked. He was too chicken.
