Waiting for books (glances at watch, taps foot impatiently)
Here I am, waiting for the books I ordered to get here already! Darn it! I whipped through the Cal Leandros series in less than a week, with a couple of other books thrown in there for good measure (which I haven't reviewed yet), and I want my Spiral Hunt, Step Sister Scheme, and Gate of Ivory trilogy by Doris Egan to GET HERE!
Unlike the other books I read lately, these all have female protagonists. Egan's first Gate book is the only one I've read in full and it has a WONDERFUL protagonist and a fully thought out matriarchical system (from what I remember) and is a blend of magic and science, to boot! It really doesn't get much better than that, let me tell you. Her book readers mourn her loss in her move from novels to television...but it's understandable why. TV pays a bunchload better. And Egan's about as talented as they come.
