Judicial Indiscretion - the Ebert Thumbs down

Judicial Indiscretion -- man, from what I've been reading about it, I'm glad I didn't watch it. I didn't anyhow because it featured a rape as the main storyline, and I HATE and DESPISE watching movies with rape in them as part of the "entertainment" factor.  It's another reason I never watched, and never will watch that other film of Michael Shanks in which he's also a bad guy who rapes a woman.

I understand actors who've played Good Guys forever wanting to stretch their wings and be bad guys, but does being a bad guy automatically mean raping a woman?  Aren't there villians that do other things - like "simple" stalking? Serial killing? Regular run-of-the-mill murder? Kidnapping a child?  Bestiality? Why not rape an animal?   Does rape of a woman have to figure into it, or is it really that sexy?
