Okay. I'm doing it today. I'm going to go to the YMCA and sign up for the family membership. They have a pool, with free swims that my kids can do...classes that are available (but only on a lottery basis, which sucks, but anyway). And I'm going to make myself go during the day so that I can get fit. I owe it to myself, and to my kids to be in better health.  If it means cutting back in another area, I'll do that. (we have a lot of bills)

If I don't end up signing up, you all have my permission to chatise me strongly online. (heh)

I'll be watching.... :EG:

Seriously, good for you for deciding to do this!

It'll be good. :-) I find that I'm more consistent with exercise when I have somewhere to go and do it. I have never liked going to gyms, but I'm changing my mind on that. Also, at the Y, you have a chance for more variety, so hopefully won't get stuck in a rut like I have.

Congrats! I know it's a big step as I just did it myself a month ago. I've lost 6 pounds just by adding regular exercise to my week (2-3 times). I'm starting out slow because I'm majorly out of shape and have some medical issues, but I've found that just walking on the treadmill is a great place to begin.

I've been guilty of putting my life on hold for quite some time. It is, as you say, for your family that you do this, but your decision is reinforced when you do it for yourself. I'm one of those wives and moms who kind of lost her identity, so I'm aiming to get some of it back.

Best of luck and here's to us for taking such a major step in our lives. :)

On a lottery basis? That's odd. Still, it's all good.

I've gained weight so far, but that's typical of me - exercise has always just added muscle under the fat, which is why the only way I can get "slim" is through starving.

That said, I don't give a shit. I'm feeling stronger and better and all that, and I just don't care if I lose weight or not. Trainer says it HAS to happen sooner or later, but she's probably never met someone with total East Coast peasant farmer Mick white trash blood before, if I may employ every racial slur ever used against "my peeps" in one sentence, thank you. :D I'm built for 8 hours a day of hard labor, and anything else just confuses the hell out of my hormones.

Another reason: if you do end up homeschooling, the Y can provide for sports/PE/kid-interaction time!
