First Season of 24: on sale: should I buy it at half price?

Target is having a sale on the first season of 24. It's on sale for ~$20.00, or half its usual price.  I've been hearing a lot about 24 lately...should I, or shouldn't I?  It would be nice to watch a show I've never seen before, without commercials, without waiting from week to week and through network delays and repeats...

Any advice anyone? I could go back there first thing tomorrow and get it!

I haven't yet watched S1 of 24 but I hear it is the best one. I'm dying to watch it. It's on sale? *wants*

I've seen S2, S3 and S5. All were good, but they all follow similar formulas to the first season. But I do recommend it.

Oh, and it's the type of show that is full of a lot of twists (not always sensical but not enough to annoy me), action, drama, and intrigue. Any romance is usually a small part of the story and only adds to the drama not overpowers it.

I am so on the fence. Problem is, we've spent a lot of $$$ lately, what with Xmas, then son's 6th birthday coming up next week; and so forth.

*sighs* I wish I could make up my mind. I'd hate to buy it, and then hate it. And there are so many other DVDs I'd like to get, too, but...##whimpers##

The OTHER thing is, I'm pretty much unspoiled for this show: meaning, I only have the foggiest idea of who the characters are, and the specific situations they get into.

I have heard about some gross things Jack, the main character, does in later seasons, though.

Gross? Hmm. Maybe I missed that season? Or maybe I'm used to it. He's not a nice guy, Jack. He just does his job very well. He's a hero but also an anti-hero in many ways. It's a show I never thought I'd like. I mean, if money is very tight and you're not sure, it's best to be on the safe side. But it's a suspense-drama show. And if you aren't spoiled, that's even better. I'm dying to see s1,but I'm spoiled because I already know what happens to the characters. But whenever you do chose to watch it, it would likely suit you better having no idea what happens.

24 was one of the most boring programmes I've seen, even beating Lost. That's quite an achievement.

S1 was definitely my favorite. I haven't watched the all of the other seasons yet, but I was hooked for all of S1.

It's not *quite* as graphic as what I'm sure the gross parts you've heard for more recent stuff, but it's definitely intense.

Oh, and since you're unspoiled...do your best to stay that way!

More boring than LOST?!!!

Jeez, that's saying something. I hate Lost. Well, I'd have to actually feel something about it to hate it. I'm so indifferent to Lost it's not funny. What a wretched show Lost is. All questions and no answers, all pouty lips and lingering glances and no action. It's inflated, and the producers are about as good as Chris Carter at giving answers. Suuuuure they know what the mystery is. Yeah. Suuuuure they do.

Oooh, that's tough. Maybe you should make a list. *g* I have a ton of DVDs I want, but mostly to complete sets, and now I also want the rest of Smallville (I only have season 4 for the Jensen Ackles *g*). But...there are music CDs and music to download that I want even more.
