I'm just finishing up the scrapbook of my younger years, birth through university graduation. Sometimes the pictures would speak for themselves, very little journaling was required, just a who, when, and where, especially for the oldest photos. For my teen years, I had very few pictures, and a fair bit of memorabilia, this is where journaling was more important. I ended up using the computer to put my thoughts together. I printed these and mounted them as I would an important photo, the actual photos in the layout were then labelled with short names and titles.
I like simple. I used black pages with silver journaling to offset the many black & white photos I had. Not a single sticker in the album. I made a a paper doodad that I used for each two page layout to add additional colour to go along with the occasional matting.
Oops! I'm making this about me! Sorry. Well done on putting thought and research into the aspect of scrapbook journaling!
