Mermaid and I drove over to Vons after I picked her up from school.
Usually you see Girl Scouts or Homeless Shelters in front, selling or asking for donations.
Oh no. This time, it was a political petition table with three women behind a desk with two signs on it.
One sign said "Hitler would congratulate Obama on his Universal Health Care Plan!"
The other sign said, with a picture of a covered body on a gurney, "Obama will have you covered"
GODWIN'S LAW.
ETA: I went back to the store soon after I got home. The table and the people were already gone at 6pm. Apparently the grocery store wasn't thrilled with their being there--right of free speech, I was told, and because they were on a sidewalk, it was considered public thoroughfare or whatever. The manager told me they upset a LOT of their customers, and told me her manager had been out talking to them not too long before I got there.
No one seemed to know what group it was that had the signs and the table. The manager also told me they weren't very pleasant, either. Another employee told me they'd been told to ignore them and walk past them.
*headdesk*
I really wish those assholes had stayed there long enough so that I could have had a"little" talk with them.
