Feb. 7th, 2009 10:31 amIn case you were wondering how to manage your mortgage (if you have one) or any other type of loan, I found this neat site (there are many more) that has some calculators that do the mathwork for you if you want to pay it off early, or see how it affects the amount of interest you'll end up paying and so forth. https://www.safaccount.org/CALC/prepayCalc.jsp
Bankrate.com is also a terrific resource. Tons of calculators with graphics. Fool.com has many articles about many financial subjects. If you want to know more about investing, or saving, or how to handle the money you've got, I highly recommend Fool and Bankrate.

A woman's right to have as many babies as she wants only goes as far her right not to endanger the children that result from the desire to have a collection of children, and the ability to create the type of support she'll need to raise huge numbers of children.
Personally, I'm not so sure Ms. Suleman, the woman who now has 14 children under age 8 will have the ability to care for so many children by herself. Her mother is not going to become her de facto babysitter any longer; her father is exiting the country for work to help support her (when he should be working for his own retirement)...and she believes that she's going to have the time to earn a Masters degree along the way! There's a reality disconnect going on in her head.
Obama graffiti artist arrested in Boston
Feb. 7th, 2009 10:38 pmThe graffitti artist who spread Barack Obama's image with a reinterpretation of an AP photographer's portrait photo has been arrested in Boston. Shepard Fairey was on his way to his gallery opening (presumably on Newberry Street) when Boston's Finest arrested him for supposedly graffitti-ing up a few walls, and marking it with an Andre the Giant tag. He was not arrested for the Obama portait (at least directly).
Apparently the photographer, Manny Garcia, didn't copyright the image; and AP seems to not understand the transformative aspects of painting from a photograph. If this were a true problem, Andy Warhol would have been arrested soon after his Campbell Soup cans were hung on a wall. And there goes much pop art into the copyright infringement argument that's currently going on.

Very cool program!
Feb. 7th, 2009 11:12 pmCNN asked Americans to take pictures during the Inauguration. Using a Microsoft program that tiles the photographs taken from many different angles, you've got a very cool 3D effect of the Inauguration. The sequence that's even cooler are the photos all taken at the same moment in hundreds of homes of Obama taking the Oath. The picture on the television morphs from one living room, or class room or rally room seamlessly. It's a must-see.

You do need to download a 4 megabyte program to see the photographs...it's fascinating.
