Yes, it's a change from my usual weird and funky news stories. I figured this would be a nice change of pace.

On a transatlantic flight from Amsterdam to Boston, a woman gave birth to a baby. She was lucky in that there was a doctor and a paramedic on board who helped with the delivery. After the flight landed (on Dec 31) the woman and infant were trundled off to Mass General.

And another woman had twins born in different years. Yeah, news organizations love this kind of stuff. Same link takes you to both stories.

Several fat elephants at the San Diego Zoo have lost over 11 thousand pounds between them. The handlers cut out all the treats they were giving the beasts, and started feeding them a diet high in hay (ie, fiber) and stopped feeding them jelly beans. Jelly beans?
