Yay! I have successfully ordered one of the NaNoWriMo mugs! I missed out on ordering one last year because I waited too long.   Now I'll have the cool mug to sip out of while I sit at the coffee house, trying to look cool and writerly while tapping out the words on my PalmOne foldable keyboard and my PDA.

Heh.

The CBS series NUMB3RS is entering its third season. In the relatively short time it's been on the air, it has created a national stir, rekindling the public's interest in mathematics, spawning the We All Use Math Every Day education initiative, garnering the prestigious "Carl Sagan Award" from the Council of Scientific Society Presidents ... and capturing the number one spot on Friday nights.

Join us for a preview screening of an upcoming episode, followed by a discussion with the show's cast and creative team. Panel members currently scheduled are:

  • David Krumholtz (Charlie)
  • Rob Morrow (Don)
  • Navi Rawat (Amita)
  • Dylan Bruno (Colby)
  • Nick Fallaci & Cheryl Heuton, co-creators
  • Barry Schindel, executive producer
  • Caltech Professor Gary Lorden, math consultant for the series

Event Admission: The event is free, with no tickets or reservations required. However, members of the Caltech community may pick up guaranteed-admission tickets from the Caltech Ticket Office. We will begin admitting ticket holders at 7:30; guests without tickets will be admitted, until capacity is reached, beginning shortly after 7:45.

Anyone interested in joining me for this one? Looks to be very funny! And, okay, I know it's at the beginning of NaNo, but-but-but - it looks FUN!

"A hilarious and speedy take on Hollywood's highs and lows. I loved it! An instant classic! .... One of the greatest, sustained pieces of physical comedy I have ever seen. There are brilliant pieces of comic invention. Go see. Buy tickets now."

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the theater...

The Reduced Shakespeare Company boldly goes where few would dare - Tinseltown! America's "bad boys of abridgement" take on America's largest export (well, except for weapons) and go about savaging show biz.

They've gone Biblical, they've gone historical, now the RSC has gone completely Hollywood... abridged, of course!
